Shocking Article on South African lesbians...

JOHANNESBURG (AFP) — South African lesbians are suffering rapes by men trying to "cure" their homosexuality, in what is becoming one of the most common hate crimes against gay women here, a new study said Friday.

The study by the anti-poverty group ActionAid said that women living in townships in Johannesburg and Cape Town are reporting increasing attacks and murders by men committing so-called "corrective" rape.

South African women generally face a staggering risk of rape in a country with one of the highest crime rates in the world.

Almost half of South African women will be raped in their lifetime, according to the report, which said 500,000 rapes are committed each year.

Of every 25 men brought to trial for rape, only one is convicted, it added.

But lesbians are being singled out by men who think that the rape will change their sexual orientation, said Zanele Twala, head of ActionAid South Africa.

"So-called 'corrective' rape is yet another grotesque manifestation of violence against women, the most widespread human rights violation in the world today," she said.

One support group in Cape Town said it is responding to 10 new cases of "corrective" rape every week, in that city alone, the report said.

South Africa's constitution enshrines equal rights for gay people, but hate crimes based on sexual orientation are not recognised by law or in courts, the study said.

At least 31 lesbians have been killed in homophobic attacks over the last decade, but only one case has led to a conviction, it said, warning the real number of killings is likely much higher in country where 50 people meet a violent death every day.

The head of the South African Human Rights Commission, Jody Kollapen, said in a foreward to the study that the findings should push the criminal justice system to recognise hate crimes.

"Hate crimes of this nature require decisive action and those responsible must be held to account," he said.

10 worst excuses for cheating by Jason Daly

10) "Because ... I could."
This is how President Bill Clinton explained away his "sexual relations with that woman" to Dan Rather on 60 Minutes. Which might explain why he's so supportive of Hillary's new job. The secretary of state travels a lot, right?

9) "Because ... you're too smart."
When Billy Bob Thornton left Angelina Jolie, his fifth wife, after an alleged affair with a waitress, he claimed it was out of sheer terror. "I was afraid of her. She was too beautiful for me, she was too smart for me," he told Dateline. "I felt so small next to her. I'm a scared person." Someday, this quote will appear in the Guys-Who-Blew-It Hall of Fame.

8) "I was brain-washed by Kabbalah."
Technically, this wasn't Alex Rodriguez's excuse for sneaking around with the Material Mom. It's just the only way the Yankee's wife could explain it. "I feel like Madonna is using mind control over him," she told a friend. "I don't recognize the man he's become. He was a sweet, beautiful, loving husband and father. Today he's very cold and calculating."

7) "I'm special."
Senator John Edwards issued a press release regarding his affair with former campaign worker Rielle Hunter. It read: "In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly narcissistic." Really? You mean those $400 haircuts weren't just your special way of stimulating the economy?

6) "All women look like Rubik's Cubes to me."
Pablo Picasso went through women like he went through paintbrushes, and his longtime companion, Dora Maar, was almost driven mad by his infidelity. One night, while cheating on Dora with his lover Françoise, he defended his many affairs with other women by saying, "There's nothing so similar to one poodle dog as another poodle dog, and that goes for women too." He then went on to cheer up Françoise by telling her how fat she looked.

5) "Just doing my job, ma'am."
Legendary Jersey boy Jon Bon Jovi claimed in 2006 that "infidelity is part of the job" for a rocker, though it hasn't scuttled his 19-year marriage to karate instructor Dorothea Hurley. "I've had my lapses with other women, sure," he told a reporter. "Welcome to the music business." What he was trying to say was "I'm a jerk."

4) "Umm ... charity?"
When Eddie Murphy was busted with a transvestite prostitute in his SUV in 1997 in Hollywood, he claimed he had picked her up because she needed a ride. "It's not the first hooker I've helped out," he told tabloids. "I've seen hookers on corners and I'll pull over, and they'll go, 'Oh, you're Eddie Murphy, oh my God,' and I'll empty my wallet out to help." And by "wallet" he means ...

3) "I forgot the 12th step."
It's not that he was addicted to booze or Bolivian marching powder. No. David Duchovny was addicted to love — the intercourse-with-someone-who-is-not-your-wife variety. After a successful 35-day stint in sex rehab, Duchovny reportedly told those close to him that he was ready to tackle some of his other personal demons that no other human could possibly understand ... like his weaknesses for air and water.

2) "I needed the high five."
Though he tried to comfort —himself by spending $3,000 a month on Internet porn, Peter Cook, the underappreciated husband of Christie Brinkley, eventually broke down for a real live human: his 18-year-old assistant. What could have kept his libido in check? In a 20/20 interview with Barbara Walters, he said, "A little acknowledgment, a little attention, a little thank-you every now and then for my efforts." What about a puppy? Would a little puppy have helped too?

And the winner is ...

1) "Tonight, honey! I've got a headache!"
When Caroline Kennedy opined that Barack Obama would be the kind of president her father was, she didn't say whether that would include a long list of executive affairs. JFK once excused his transgressions to former British prime minister Harold Macmillan by saying that if he didn't enjoy the company of a lady every three days, he got headaches. Just like a politician to put a new spin on the oldest excuse in the book.

Double Goose V Bomber aka Larry Davis Bomber

One of the freshest bombers in my opinion...made popular by hood legend Larry Davis.

Recession...The BEST time to party

While there's little doubt we're knee-deep in recession, nightlife is alive and well with the latest round of big-city openings luring revelers from their beloved bars and into a new lineup of dance clubs, sports bars and lounges.
While from city to city the trends are different, what is apparent is that even the most posh bars are going out of their way to make nightlife as friendly and affordable as possible. It begins at the door, where doormen are friendly and welcoming, into the bar, where you no longer have to buy $500 bottle service just to be worthy of a booth, and even on the bill, where drink prices are cheaper than in years.

LET'S PARTY!

All eyes & ears on DJ VELOCITY

The finesse that becomes of a man's finger tips is defined through the way that he is capable of touching vinyl and make it sound immaculate. Born during the timeline where hip hop first began, Jose S. a.k.a. DJ Velocity "The General", has and still continues to show and prove that he is willing to take his passion to new heights. His strengths continue to show through his work and the experiences that he has encountered within the nightlife scene. DJ Velocity began his career at the tender age of 16 by working at "The Basement Mix Records", a local music store located in Brooklyn East New York area, as a teenage entertainer. Within time he rubbed elbows with some of the great and associated with some execs in which brought him to be who he is today, "THE GENERAL".
During a time frame where the demand for DJ's was at a high he was able to maneuver his way into the scene. While still attending school he was capable of juggling a 5 day performance schedule while still making sure to keep up with his studies. He performed at locations such as: Columbus 72, Time Squares famous Supper Club, Etoile, The Roxy, Nest (formally known as Demoraras), Canal Room, Mars 2112, Maya Lounge, Taj, Duvet, Guesthouse/Home, Savannah, Sol, and many others. Alongside his raved revue as one of the Cities top Young DJ's he has also played at venues out of New York within the Pennsylvania, Washington DC Florida, Atlanta, Upstate New York and New Jersey areas. Even appeared on one of the most popular urban tv shows such as 106 & Park!
Some of the greatest opportunities only become of a man who shows and proves that he is worthy of such and Velocity has proven just that. With great thanks and appreciation he was given opportunity after opportunity to do so by grasping, obtaining and keeping great business relationships with his predecessors. Some of the very event coordinating companies that he is forever grateful to are groups such as: Give and Go, Paid in Full, Connections Unlimited, Nubian Gold, Nightlife Ent., Stand Firm, Big Business, 3Kings, DBO, Dappadonz, Burn it down Group and a slew of other LLC companies and event planning organizations. He has also been a great asset to the New York State Fraternity and Sorority Chapters in hosting their annual events and soirées. If it had not been for their consistent request of his talents then the movement may have been a long struggle.
With the continued success of his career, Velocity hopes to travel above and beyond his dreams that he had as a child and be able to walk the path of Hip Hops greatest like; DJ Kid Capri, DJ Kool Herc, of course Grandmaster Flash, DJ Wiz, Dj Bam, and many others. As time goes on he knows that he could not have been where he is today without the support of his friends, family and patrons that continued to request his presence. His goals are to; bring a fresh new look to the era of entertainment and succeed in helping to reinvent a new day and age of music at its finest. Given the time and the opportunity, he will knock down doors and barriers that lie in his way in order to make them come alive.

Welcome Home John Forte...

In 2000, Forté was arrested at Newark International Airport after accepting a briefcase containing $1.4 million worth of liquid cocaine; he was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and conspiracy to distribute. He was convicted and sentenced to the mandatory minimum 14 years after being found guilty, and incarcerated at FCI Loretto, a low-security federal prison in central Pennsylvania.
Carly Simon and her son Ben Taylor have been advocates on Forte's behalf, believing he did not receive a fair trial, fought for an appeal of the mandatory minimum drug laws that remove a judge’s discretion in a case; they met Forté through Taylor's cousin who was a classmate of Forté's at Phillips Exeter.
With the help of Senator Orrin Hatch, Forté's prison sentence was commuted by President George W. Bush on November 24, 2008. He was released from prison four weeks later December 22.

Forté recently recorded a cover of Kanye West's "Homecoming" with Talib Kweli. In the song, he discusses the issues surrounding his jail time.

LMFAO section of my blog will focus on the things that made me laugh so much that my stomach started to hurt....

Inauguration Weekend 2009: Two things that had me rolling.......

1. Me being so drunk in the club that I challenged Steff to arm-wrestle me LOL

I WON!!!!

2. The midget security guard....WTF were they thinking??? I respect and love all kinds of people but I think this situation was TOOOOO FUNNY!

Inauguration 2009 | Continued....

MONDAY:
The day before our 44th President gets inaugurated! You can FEEL the anticipation in the air! By Monday, about 1.5 million visitors hit the streets, malls, restaurants, Obama shops (lol), bars & clubs of Washington, D.C.

Before I continue, I would like to say R.I.P. to all of the people that died on the I-70 West 50-car pile-up. Everything happens for a reason, if Soraya & Arkeen weren't so late...we would've been in that pile-up and I'm thankful that they weren't on-time.

Eventhough the 4hour traffic delay, stopped us from attending the Jay-Z concert, we kept our spirits up...l8tr that night, we WENT IN!!!

BIG SHOUTS TO NATE ENZO from talkofdc.com - real classy dude, reminds me of a young me LMFAO & shouts to the midget security guard that tried to kick us out of the club lmao

TUESDAY - HISTORY:
HOORAY! My President is BLACK

Ok, I'm ashamed to say this...we missed Inauguration because we partied HARD the night before

But we still got to experience the metro, the day, the parade & Georgia Brown's (YUM YUM)

Random Thought: How cool is Michelle Obama??? Her swagg is THROUGH THE ROOF!!!!
